About CBT with Lindsay

I’m Lindsay, a fully qualified and BABCP accredited CBT and EMDR Therapist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. My journey into therapy began with my own personal struggles, which inspired me to retrain and pursue my passion for helping others. After overcoming challenges with anxiety, exhaustion, and feeling stuck in my own life, I realised that change is possible, and I wanted to share that belief with others.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in compassion, non-judgment, and a deep understanding of each individual’s unique experiences. I specialise in working with adults and young people who are dealing with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and relationship challenges. My passion lies in helping others transform their lives, whether it’s through individual sessions, workshops, or community initiatives.

What sets me apart, is my diverse background.

I started with psychodynamic counselling, which helps uncover the deeper roots of a person’s struggles, and then transitioned to CBT, which offers practical, actionable steps to change. This combination allows me to work with clients on both a surface level and a deeper, more holistic level.
With the addition of EMDR, I can also support clients in processing distressing or traumatic memories that feel “stuck,” helping the brain make sense of past experiences so they have less emotional weight in the present. Together, these approaches create a balanced way of working, supportive, practical, and focused on long-term change.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in various settings, including the NHS, private practice, local councils, and charities. This breadth of experience has given me a well-rounded perspective on mental health and the importance of accessible support for everyone. Whether I’m working with individuals in schools, communities, or corporate environments, my goal is always the same: to empower people to make meaningful changes in their lives.

I believe that everyone has the strength to change, no matter how challenging their circumstances may seem. My role is to provide the guidance, tools, and support needed to tap into that strength and create lasting, positive change. If you’re ready to take that first step, I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey.

My Goal

Empowerment: I aim to empower my clients with the tools and strategies they need to manage their mental health and improve their overall well-being.

Community Impact: I am passionate about making a difference in the wider community by offering workshops, talks, and support within schools, local businesses, and community groups.

Continuous Growth: I am committed to staying at the forefront of mental health advancements, continuously learning, and incorporating the latest research and techniques into our practice.

My Ethos

Compassion and Understanding: I believe that every person’s journey is unique, and we approach each client with empathy, respect, and a non-judgmental attitude.

Holistic Approach: While CBT and EMDR are my main modalities, I also draw on psychodynamic principles to provide a deeper understanding of my clients’ experiences and challenges.

Client-Centred: Your goals, values, and well-being are at the heart of everything I do. I work collaboratively with you to create a personalised plan that meets your specific needs.

My Mission

At Therapy with Lindsay, my mission is simple: to provide a safe and supportive space where individuals can explore their challenges and find the strength to overcome them.

I believe in the potential for change in everyone, no matter how difficult life may seem.

My goal is to help you tap into that potential and guide you toward a brighter, more fulfilling future.
